Which website platform is best for lead generation?

HubSpot CMS wins for lead gen. Here is the honest comparison that gets you there.

For lead generation, HubSpot CMS wins, because the page, the form, the contact record, and the attribution report are the same system instead of four systems you have to keep in sync. We should say up front that LevelUp Digital is a HubSpot Platinum Solutions Partner, so treat that as declared bias rather than a hidden one.

Credit where it is due

WordPress powers an enormous share of the web for real reasons. The plugin ecosystem is unmatched, hosting is cheap, and there is a developer on every corner who knows it. Webflow gives designers control that template systems do not. Shopify is genuinely the best commerce platform for most stores, and we happily put a Shopify store behind a HubSpot fronted site.

So the question is not which platform is most capable. It is which one costs you the least attention over five years while producing leads.

Where WordPress gets expensive

The costs show up after launch. Plugins update on their own schedules and occasionally conflict, which means somebody has to test and fix. Security is an ongoing job: Sucuri's 2023 Hacked Website Report found that 95.5 percent of the infected sites they cleaned that year were WordPress, across 39,594 sites, and Sucuri is careful to note this largely reflects WordPress holding roughly 62.8 percent of the CMS market. Both halves of that are true. It is the most used platform and therefore the most attacked, and either way you are the one buying the patching.

The quieter problem is that most clients will not touch the back end. Which is exactly why some agencies pick it. A site you cannot edit is a site you have to call someone about. Our position is that you should be able to run your own website and should not be married to us.

Why HubSpot CMS wins for lead gen

Hosting, SSL, and the CDN are included and the platform is patched for you. Forms create contacts natively, so source data and attribution are not a project. Marketers can edit pages without a ticket. A/B testing and smart content are built in. When you want to know which page produced the deal that closed, the answer is already in the same tool.

WordPress is fine as a limited component, like a store or a legacy app, behind a HubSpot fronted setup. We do not build or maintain whole websites in it.
