Which social media advertising services work well for small business owners?

What a real paid social program includes, and how to judge one before you sign.

The paid social services that actually work for a small business are offer and audience strategy, creative built for the feed, conversion tracking that reaches your CRM, and reporting in cost per qualified lead. Boosting posts is not one of them.

Most small businesses buy social media advertising and get a boosted post and a screenshot of reach. That is not a program. Here is what a real one includes, and how to judge one before you sign.

What should be in scope

  • Offer and audience strategy: who you want to reach, and what you are asking them to do.
  • Creative production in the formats and lengths the platform actually distributes.
  • Pixel and conversions API setup, so the platform optimizes toward real leads instead of clicks.
  • Lead routing into your CRM, so you can tell which ad produced a closed deal.
  • A monthly report that names cost per qualified lead, not impressions.

Questions that separate an agency from a reseller

Ask who writes the creative and how often it gets refreshed. Ask where conversion data lands. Ask what happens in month one. At LevelUp Digital month one of an ad engagement is the build: strategy, account structure, tracking, and the first set of ads. Campaigns launch in month two. Anyone promising leads in week one is either inheriting a working account or guessing.

Ask who owns the ad account. Clients pay the platforms directly on their own account and card. LevelUp never fronts spend and never marks it up. If an agency insists on running your ads inside their account, you lose your history and your audiences the day you leave.

What it costs

LevelUp charges 10 percent of ad spend to manage paid media, with a minimum of $1,500 per month, plus $350 per month for each additional platform. The 10 percent only exceeds the minimum above $15,000 per month in spend. For paid social specifically, $1,500 per month in ad spend on Meta is enough to run a real campaign. That figure is ad spend and excludes the management fee.

Organic social is a separate monthly retainer on the retainers page. The two work better together, but you are not required to buy both. If your budget only covers one, start with the one that matches your timeline: paid buys reach now, organic earns trust over months.
