Where should landing pages be built: HubSpot, your CMS, or a standalone tool?

Standalone tools are fast to start. HubSpot CMS wins once you care about the data.

Build landing pages in HubSpot CMS if the leads matter, because the page, the form, the contact record, and the attribution report end up in one system instead of four. We are a HubSpot Platinum Solutions Partner, so call that declared bias, but the argument stands on its own.

The honest case for standalone builders

Dedicated landing page tools are genuinely good at what they do. Templates are strong, a marketer can publish in an hour without touching a developer, and the testing features are mature. If you need one page live tomorrow for a campaign that ends in six weeks, a standalone tool is a reasonable call and we would not argue.

WordPress deserves credit too. There is a page builder for every taste and a plugin for every feature. The flexibility is real.

Where both get expensive

The cost is not the subscription. It is that you now maintain a second website. Specifically:

  • Split analytics. Sessions on the landing tool and sessions on your site are two datasets that have to be stitched together to answer a simple question about the customer journey.
  • Leads landing outside the CRM. Most standalone tools sync contacts, and most syncs drop fields, lag, or silently break. The source data is exactly what goes missing.
  • Branding drift. Two design systems means the campaign page slowly stops looking like the company.
  • A second thing to patch. On self-hosted WordPress that means plugin updates and security patching, every month, owned by someone.

Why HubSpot CMS wins

The form is native, so a submission creates or updates a contact immediately with the source, the campaign, and the click ID attached. A/B testing and smart content are built in. Hosting, SSL, and the CDN come with it. Reporting can tell you which landing page produced the deal that closed, without an integration project, because it was never two systems.

WordPress belongs behind a HubSpot fronted setup only as a limited component, such as a store. We do not build or maintain full sites in it, mostly because our clients should be able to run their own marketing without calling us for every edit.
