Which social platform is best for paid advertising?
Meta, LinkedIn, TikTok and the rest: how to pick by audience and offer, not by hype.
There is no best platform. There is the platform where your buyer already spends time, at a cost per lead your deal size can absorb. For most small and mid-sized businesses selling to consumers or to small businesses, that is Meta. For high-value B2B with a defined job title, it is often LinkedIn despite the price.
How to choose
- Meta. The widest reach, the cheapest impressions, and the best self-serve targeting once the pixel has data. Works for local services, retail, healthcare, home services, powersports, and most considered consumer purchases. Starts producing on a modest budget.
- LinkedIn. The only platform where you can buy a job title and a company size reliably. Clicks are expensive. It only makes sense when one customer is worth enough to absorb that, which usually means a multi-thousand dollar contract value.
- TikTok. Cheap attention if you can produce native short video continuously. If you cannot commit to that production load, your ads will look like ads and get ignored.
- YouTube and other video placements. Good for demonstration and for awareness when you already have video worth running.
The question nobody asks
Not which platform is best, but how many you can afford to run well. Splitting one budget across three platforms means three campaigns that never gather enough data to optimize. Adding a platform also adds real cost: LevelUp charges $350 per month for each additional platform on top of the 10 percent of spend, $1,500 per month minimum. Add a platform when the first one is working and you have budget to fund the second at a level it can learn from, not because a competitor is there.
Test before you commit
Ask your recent customers where they spend time and how they found you. Then test one platform for at least ninety days with consistent creative refresh. Judge it on cost per qualified lead in your CRM, not on platform-reported conversions, which count generously. The platforms LevelUp manages are listed on the paid advertising page, and there is a deeper Meta breakdown in our Meta strategy guide.
