What is the difference between Marketing Hub, Sales Hub, Service Hub, Content Hub, and Operations Hub?
Five hubs on one CRM: campaigns, selling, support, website content, and data plumbing.
Every hub is a different set of tools sitting on the same CRM database, so the question is never which hub replaces another, it is which jobs you are paying to automate. One contact record, five ways of working on it.
What each hub actually does
- Marketing Hub runs demand: marketing email, forms, landing pages, ads audiences, campaigns, and marketing automation.
- Sales Hub runs the pipeline: deals, quotes, sequences, meeting links, call logging, and forecasting.
- Service Hub runs support: tickets, help desk, SLAs, knowledge base, and customer feedback surveys.
- Content Hub runs the website and blog: pages, themes, memberships, and the content tooling that used to be called CMS Hub.
- Operations Hub runs the plumbing: data sync with other systems, programmable automation, data quality tooling, and custom coded actions. HubSpot now sells this as Data Hub, so expect to see both names in older documentation.
The naming keeps moving
HubSpot renames things. Operations Hub is Data Hub on the current pricing pages, CMS Hub became Content Hub, and HubSpot's own workflow documentation now lists availability across Marketing, Sales, Service, Data, Content, Smart CRM and Revenue Hub Professional and Enterprise. If a vendor comparison you are reading uses the old names, it is probably a year or two stale. HubSpot's pricing pages currently list Data Hub Professional starting at $720 per month with an annual commitment, including one Core Seat, with additional Core Seats starting at $45 per month.
Which one to buy first
Buy the hub that matches the bottleneck you can name out loud. If leads come in and nobody follows up in time, that is Sales Hub. If you have no way to nurture the leads you already own, that is Marketing Hub. If support lives in a shared inbox and nothing is measurable, that is Service Hub. If your problem is that three systems disagree about who a customer is, that is Data Hub.
The wrong move is buying all five at Professional on day one because a demo looked good. Start where the pain is, get people using it, then add. LevelUp Digital is a HubSpot Platinum Solutions Partner and we would rather sell you one hub you will actually adopt than four you will not.
